Prologue
The Multimodal Logistics Summit 2024 is a pivotal industry event that brings together key stakeholders from the logistics, transportation, and infrastructure sectors to discuss and strategize on enhancing multimodal logistics in India. As the logistics sector continues to evolve, multimodal transportation has emerged as a critical component to ensure rapid, cost-effective, and uninterrupted supply chain operations. This summit will address the current state of multimodal logistics in India, evaluate the impact of recent government initiatives, and explore strategies to overcome ongoing challenges.
The event will convene policymakers, industry leaders, infrastructure developers, technology providers, and supply chain experts to share insights, experiences, and innovations that will shape the future of India’s logistics landscape.
Introduction
India’s logistics sector is currently undergoing a significant transformation, driven by a combination of infrastructure development and policy reforms. However, despite these efforts, the country still faces high logistics costs, which amount to nearly 14% of GDP, compared to 8-10% in developed nations. This inefficiency is largely due to inadequate intermodal and multimodal transportation systems, reliance on road transport, and insufficient infrastructure for storage and handling.
To address these challenges and position India as a global logistics leader, the government has introduced various initiatives such as the National Infrastructure Pipeline, PM Gati Shakti Master Plan, Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Programme (LEEP), National Logistic Policy, and the development of industrial corridors. These programs aim to reduce logistics costs, improve multimodal connectivity, and enhance the overall efficiency of the transportation ecosystem. The Multimodal Logistics Summit 2024 is a must-attend event for industry professionals looking to stay ahead of the curve in the rapidly evolving logistics landscape. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest infrastructure developments, technological advancements, and policy reforms shaping the future of multimodal logistics in India. The summit will also provide a unique opportunity to network with key decision-makers and explore collaborative strategies to overcome challenges and drive growth in the logistics sector.
